Big Brothers Big Sisters Gets Big Phone Donation from Treasure Coast Business Communications and LifeWork Search
The business partners teamed up to help BBBS of St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties with a new phone system

December, 2010 (Port St. Lucie, FL) - As the year comes to a close and we all enjoy the holidays, many area non-profits and charities are low on donations and feeling the sting of the slow economy. As they plan their budgets for next year, funds are prioritized to meet the community’s needs with little left over for administrative costs. This year, two Treasure Coast companies have teamed up to help meet a need that might never make it in the budget, a new phone system.
Larry Breault, managing partner for LifeWork Search, Inc., donated the phone system, and Bill Hankins, owner of Treasure Coast Business Communications, who has sold phone systems locally for more than 20 years, installed the phones for the agency. The new phone system will be used to contact children and parents served by the agency as well as mentors throughout the three counties.
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a variety of different mentoring opportunities which allow participants to develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. Dr. Judi Miller, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters for St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties, was onsite to receive the donation. She said that the Treasure Coast area is full of incredible mentors and volunteers who generously donate their time and talent to help the children of the community.
"We've served over 1,500 children within the three counties this year, which is more than ever before," she said. "But there are still so many more on a waiting list that need mentors. We're always looking for volunteers and loyal supporters of the program."
